Park Yoochun Gets Indicted With Detention

On May 17, the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office revealed that Park Yoochun has been indicted with detention for the violation of the Narcotics Control Act.

Park Yoochun has been suspected of injecting Philopon (a form of methamphetamine) on seven occasions between September 2018 and March 2019 with his former girlfriend Hwang Ha Na at his home in Yongsan. He was also arrested on April 26 for the suspicion of purchasing 1.5 grams of Philopon with Hwang Ha Na on three occasions between February and March of 2019.

It was reported that prosecutors see Hwang Ha Na and Park Yoochun as accomplices. Although Park Yoochun admitted to using drugs with Hwang Ha Na on seven occasions, Hwang Ha Na reportedly denied two of these instances. Prosecutors plan on filing additional charges against Hwang Ha Na after investigating this.

Hwang Ha Na was previously indicted with detention on charges of injecting Philopon at her home in Seoul between May and September 2015 and using the drugs on her acquaintance. Her first hearing is set to be held on June 5.

A source from the prosecution stated, “We decided to indict Park Yoochun because he admitted to the charges and his detainment period is set to expire on May 22. The matter of merging [the two cases] is for the court to decide.”
