tvN’s “The Midnight Romance in Hagwon” has released another making-of video!

Helmed by director Ahn Pan Seok of the hit drama “Something in the Rain,” “The Midnight Romance in Hagwon” is a romance drama set against the backdrop of Daechi, a neighborhood known as the epicenter of private education in Korea due to its high concentration of hagwons (private educational institutions).

In the latest behind-the-scenes footage, Wi Ha Joon and Jung Ryeo Won are captured filming a scene where their characters wake up at Joon Ho’s (Wi Ha Joon’s) home to an unexpected call from his mother. Despite the seriousness of the situation, the actors bring joyful energy to the set by engaging in playful antics. Jung Ryeo Won hides in the closet, making herself completely invisible from the outside but enjoying the cozy space inside, sparking laughter among the crew on set.

The video then depicts their intense argument scene at the hagwon. Initially, the two exchange jokes during rehearsals, with a staff member humorously noting, “Even the slightest off-guard moment could turn [our romantic drama] into a comedy.” However, as the real rehearsal begins, Wi Ha Joon and Jung Ryeo Won dive deep into their roles, delivering emotional lines and engaging in heated arguments. After successfully executing a 10-minute long uninterrupted take, they appear emotionally exhausted, which signifies how dedicated they are to delivering immersive acting performances.

In a later scene, Kim Song Il, who plays Pyo Sang Seop, joins the shoot. As Joon Ho spots Hye Jin (Jung Ryeo Won) and Song Il together, he is greeted and invited to join the dinner. However, tensions rise as Joon Ho and Hye Jin raise their voices and argue again in front of Pyo Sang Seop. Yet, when Jung Ryeo Won asks, “What on earth would you get by provoking and humiliating me?” Wi Ha Joon casually responds, “Growing old together,” immediately breaking the tension and prompting laughter among the actors and staff.
