'Mickey 17' Becomes Fastest Film Of 2025 To Surpass 2 Million Moviegoers At Korean Box Office

Bong Joon Ho’s new film “Mickey 17” continues its reign at the Korean box office!

On March 9, the Korean Film Council announced that as of 11:33 a.m. KST that day, “Mickey 17” had recorded a total of 2,001,220 moviegoers. The film managed to reach the milestone in less than 10 days, making it the fastest movie released in 2025 to achieve the feat.

Additionally, “Mickey 17” has remained No. 1 at the box office ever since its release in Korea on February 28—meaning that it has topped the Korean box office for nine days straight.

Helmed by “Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho, “Mickey 17” is a science fiction black comedy film starring Robert Pattinson as an “expendable”—a disposable clone worker—named Mickey Barnes. As an expendable on a space mission, Mickey is assigned dangerous tasks that he is not expected to survive, with a new body regenerated every time he dies. However, things go very wrong during one regeneration when one of his clones—“Mickey 17”—is mistakenly presumed dead.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of “Mickey 17”!
