Debut

Leeteuk was the first to appear in a television drama back in 2000 in MBC's All About Eve although he was only responsible for a simple and brief cameo appearance. His appearance was later followed by Kibum four years later, who appeared in the KBS drama, April Kiss (2004) as young Han Jungwoo prior to his debut as a member in Super Junior. A year later Kibum appeared on KBS's Sharp 2 (2005) as the male lead, acting alongside Go Ah-ra and Heechul, which was the latter's first drama. Both Heechul and Kibum soon became the main characters of MBC's sitcom Rainbow Romance (2005–2006) for over 200 episodes and invited bandmates, Han Geng and Eunhyuk, to make cameo appearances for several episodes. Siwon, on the other hand, made his first brief appearance in KBS's Precious Family in 2004, soon followed by Eighteen, Twenty-Nine (2005) and Spring Waltz (2005) where he played a supporting role. Kang-In and Sungmin soon followed, making brief cameo appearances in Secret Lovers and Sea of Sisters in 2005, respectively.

Siwon was the first member to make a successful silver-screen film debut, playing Prince Liang in the 2006 Hong Kong historical action drama film, A Battle of Wits starring Andy Lau and Ahn Sung-ki. The film was premiered in over five different Asian countries and had international premieres in film festivals such as in the United States and Europe.

Although not officially qualifed as dramas, Super Junior as a group appeared in Super Junior's Mini-Drama, a program hosted by the group that was released in late 2006. The group wrote, produced, and acted in the separate mini dramas. The subject matters of the dramas were chosen from the top three choices from the viewers.[58][59]

Super Junior also participated in reality variety shows such as Super Junior Show (2005-2006), Mystery 6 (2006), Super Junior Full House (2006), Super Adonis Camp (2006), and other similar programs. The members also starred in various music videos from SM artists. The most notable performance was in Zhang Liyin's debut music drama video, "Timeless" (2006), featuring Han Geng and Siwon.

[edit] Masters and jockeys

Few days prior to debut, Heechul became the co-disc jockey with Park Heebon for YoungStreet Radio show. He had been the DJ for five more months until his MC schedules with SBS's Inkigayo and KM'S Show Music Tank took over. Leeteuk, Kang-In, and Shindong made their debut appearance as masters of ceremonies for M.NET's M!Countdown five days after Super Junior's music debut. The three members remained together as the hosts throughout their career until Kang-In was replaced by Eunhyuk due to his busy schedule for hosting MBC's Chinhanchingu Radio and Show! Music Core. Leeteuk and Eunhyuk also host their own radio show, Super Junior Kiss the Radio, and usually invites popular singers to discuss about their musical career. Super Junior's Donghae is a regular guest. Sungmin is also an active DJ, now currently a host with Sooyoung of Girls' Generation for Good Friend Radio, previously hosted by Kang-In. Shindong is also a regular DJ for Green Apple Sound.

On November 11, 2007, the first episode of the SBS comedic Explorers of the Human Body aired, a new special program in SBS's Good Sunday. The show introduced the twelve members of Super Junior, excluding Kyuhyun, as regular guests for the program.[60] The show aims to answer questions that others have about the human body. Super Junior members are obligated to do experiments with their own bodies to verify answers.

A time-slot dispute erupted between SM Entertainment and MBC when SM insisted to have Kang-In stay on SBS's Explorers of the Human Body instead of MBC's Sunday's Dong-An Club where Kang-In was a regular host. Angry with SM's decision, MBC decided to temporarily ban Super Junior from appearing in any future performances on MBC's variety programs and concerts.[61] Kang-In was also replaced by T.O.P of Big Bang for the MC obligations on Show! Music Core.[62] Kang-In can also no longer host popular MBC variety shows Nothing is Impossible and Sunday's Dong-An Club until the conflict is resolved.[62] However, Kang-In's radio program with MBC, Chinhanchingu Radio, is still running due to its irrelevance with the controversy.[61]
