BIOGRAPHY:

Our featured artiste this week is a very talented co-ed R&B group 8Eight. We have many good artistes debuting in 2007, and 8Eight is one of the most talented groups.

Just from their name, fans may think that 8Eight is a solo artiste, a rapper, or the second coming of Se7en. But that’s all wrong. 8Eight’s music is influenced by African American and White genres and it is about love, life, and a positive outlook on life. Talented female vocalist, Joo Hee, has a profound, yet soft voice, while male vocalist and leader Lee Hyun pours his feelings into the songs with his husky voice. Rapper Baek Chan also adds flavor and fun into the tracks. They are often compared to another co-ed new R&B group Ty Keys, who have a similar type of music and are also a co-ed group with a male and a female vocalist plus a rapper. Korean fans also label 8Eight as Korea’s Black Eyed Peas. That alone tells us that they are highly regarded.

8Eight are the winners of MBC’s Show Survival (쇼바이벌), a program similar to "American Idol". They defeated a lot of other talents and became the winners, and eventually got a record deal. 8Eight released their debut album in September 2007. The title track, "Forget Love and Sing" is a hybrid R&B song that shows 8EIGHT’s style well. The song went to the top 20 on our chart, which is a good accomplishment for a debuting group.
