Former U.S. President George W. Bush Visits Insooni’s Concert in Seoul
Former U.S. president George W. Bush made a surprise visit to veteran R&B singer Insooni’s concert in Seoul on November 6. The concert, sponsored by the Pearl S. Buck Foundation Korea, was held to support families with multicultural backgrounds and raise awareness of children of mixed race.
Insooni, who’s also one of the directors of the foundation, performed some of her hit singles, including, “Dream of the Goose,” “Father,” “Dear My Friend,” and “Every Night.”
“Former U.S. president George W. Bush sat in the crowd for the entire show. After the concert, he went to the reception room to greet her and give flowers. We heard the former president worked very closely with the foundation in the past and that led him to visit the concert. He is reported to have shown more interest after hearing Insooni’s father was a former U.S. soldier and wanted to meet her in person,” Insooni’s representative told local media.
The Pearl S. Buck Foundation has been running a lot of programs regarding mixed race children and families with multicultural backgrounds. Insooni has been one of the most vocal supporters of this foundation and this year started her own concert to raise awareness of this program. Former president Bush was in Korea for personal reasons and left the country on November 7.
For those of you that are not familiar with Insooni, she’s one of the most popular and well-known R&B singers in Korea. Since her debut in 1978, she’s released countless hit singles for over 30 years. She’s also known for her collaboration works with some of the younger generation artists, including Park Jin Young, Cho PD, and Supreme Team. Here’s a video of her live performance. Enjoy!
