Hong Sisters Tease About a Possible "You're Beautiful" Sequel
Famed drama writers Hong Jung Eun and Hong Mi Ran, more commonly known as the Hong Sisters may write a sequel to their 2009 project “You’re Beautiful.”
The sisters are reported to have made this remark at the press conference in Tokyo on July 1st to launch “Ikemen Desu ka,” the Japanese remake of “You’re Beautiful.” The duo said it would not be immediate but they would “consider it seriously” should the Japanese remake become successful.
“You’re Beautiful,” broadcast over SBS in the latter part of 2009 became a domestic and international hit. It was particularly popular in Japan where it was aired three times until April 2011 and spawning its own version. The remake, set to premiere on Tokyo-based TBS on July 15th, stars singer-actress Miori Takimoto, Kis-My-Ft2’s Tamamori Yuta and Fujigaya Taisuke, and Hey!Say!JUMP’s Yaotome Hikaru. They take on the roles originated and made famous by Park Shin Hye, Jang Geun Suk, Jung Yong Hwa and Lee Hong Ki.
Local media report the Hong Sisters’ anticipation of the Japanese A.N.Jell’s live performance sequences and the lead character’s surgery of the pig-rabbit doll.
In addition to “You’re Beautiful,” the Hong Sisters’ writing credits include ““Delightful Girl Chun Hyang,” “My Girl,” “My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho” and the recently concluded “Best Love.”
