Idol Stars Who Have Made Movie Appearances…?

These days, idol stars not only rock at singing and dancing, but they can also pull off acting. These multitalented stars have been in the spotlight by showing off their acting skills in various areas such as musicals, dramas, and movies! Producers usually welcome these idol stars because they guarantee ticket sales due to their huge fan bases. Here is an introduction to some of the stars and the movies they appeared in. Big Bang’s T.O.P in “71: Into the Fire

T.O.P gave a remarkable performance last year in the Korean War blockbuster movie “71: Into the Fire,” starring numerous top male actors such as Cha Seung Won, Kwon Sang Woo, and Kim Seung Woo. In this film based on a true story about 71 innocent student soldiers who sacrificed their lives in a fight against North Korea during the Korean War, T.O.P played the role of a student solider named Oh Jang-bum.

 

He won numerous awards such as the for his impressive performance in the movie such as the 31st Blue Dragon Film Award for Best New Actor, the Max Movie Award for Best New Actor, and  the 47th Baek Sang Award for Best New Actor.

U KISS’s Dong Ho in “Two Story House

Dong Ho made a cameo appearance in the comedy movie “Two Story House.” In the film, he plays the role of Hyun Chul, a teenage junior-high student and hottie among girls, whom Kim Hye Soo’s daughter Sung Ah (Ji Woo) has a crush on. Don’t expect the usual cute, warm-smiling Dong Ho that you see on KBS 2TV Invincible Baseball TV or you’d be shocked. In the movie, he transforms into a chic bad boy who makes a vicious prank on Sung Ah, an outcast at school, by manipulating the fact that she has a crush on him.

JYJ’s Jae Joong in Postman to Heaven


In 2009, Jae Joong appeared as the male lead in the melo-fantasy movie “Postman to Heaven,” alongside actress Han Hyo Joo! He played the character Jae Joon, ‘the postman to Heaven’ who delivers letters written by those who cannot forget their beloved ones who died to Heaven. The fantasy movie is about the 14 day-love between a special guy who delivers letters to dead people and a woman who is unable to forget her dead lover. Wonder Girls in “Last Godfather”


The Wonder Girls made a surprise cameo appearance in the movie “Last Godfather” last year! In this comedy movie about Yong Goo, who turns out to be the son of the godfather, the lovely girls appeared as jazz club singers at a club that the fellow mafia member Macho takes dejected Yong Goo in order console him. The Wonder Girls grabbed the attention of viewers for giving a powerful performance of their hit song “Nobody.”

Wonder GirlsSohee in “Hellcats, I Like It Hot”


Sohee made her big screen debut in 2007 with the movie “Hellcats, I Like It Hot” where she played the role of Kang Ae, an inquisitive high school girl who has some many things that she wants to do and is curious about love and dating. While she’s always busy looking after her busy mom and discouraged aunt, Kang Ae’s biggest concern/worry these days is her physical affection with her boyfriend Ho Jae (played by Kim Bum) whom she has been dating for three years.

BoA in “COBU 3D

BoA has recently wrapped up filming her Hollywood debut dance flick “COBU 3D.” She acted alongside Derek Hough as the lead actress in this movie which is Romeo & Juliet type love story portraying the competition between a male and a female dancer who belong to rival dance clubs in underground New York and come from different backgrounds.

Rain in “I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK” & “Speed Racer” & “Ninja Assassin”

Not only does Rain know how to dance and sing, he really knows how to act! This multi-talented world star has had relatively ample acting experience through numerous movie and drama appearances as the male lead. His solid performances have led him to win various drama and movie awards, such as the 43rd Baeksang Arts Awards for Best New Actor in 2006 for his performance in “I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK.” He also appeared in Hollywood films, Speed Racer (2008) and Ninja Assassin (2009). Last year, he became the first Korean to win a MTV Movie Award by receiving the Biggest Badass Star award!

T-ara’s Eun Jung in “White”

Eun Jung was the female lead for the horror movie “White,” where she played the role of Eun Joo, the leader girl group “Pink Dolls.” She showed a realistic performance in the film by portraying the competition with the other group members backstage and featuring an actual singing performance on stage.

T-ara’s Ji Yeon in “Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp

Last year, Ji Yeon appeared in “Death Bell 2: Bloody Camp,” alongside Yoon Si Yoon, Hwang Jung Eum, and Kim Soo Ro. She played the role of an introverted, quiet high school girl named Sehee.

T-ara’s Hyomin in “Kisangryung

 

Hyomin will be making her screen debut through the upcoming horror film, “Gisaeng Ryung,“ which is expected to hit theaters on August 4th. She plays the role of a bright, outgoing high school student named “Yurin” and holds the key to the secrets in the plot.

Jay Park in “Mr. Idol” & “Hype Nation”

 

Jay Park will appear in “Mr. Idol,a comedy flick about idol stars, which is scheduled to premiere next month. The movie comically portrays the competition amongst entertainment agencies, as well as the process of gathering troublemakers and making them into ultra popular idol stars. Jay Park plays the character named Jio, who is one of the members of a four person boy group named “Mr. Children” and a hard-mouthed, rough fighter with a criminal record and harsh personality. Prior to “Mr. Idol,” Jay Park also starred in dance flick ‘Hype Nation 3D’ which hasn’t been released yet.
