MBC Drama “Can You Hear My Heart?” Tops Weekend Drama TV Ratings

MBC’s special drama “Can You Hear My Heart?” has topped weekend drama TV ratings this week with a 21.6% rating, according to AGB Nielsen Media Research. That’s a 5.9% spike from last week’s episode, which had set the previous record at 15.7% on Apr. 24^th.

This gives “Can You Hear My Heart?” the top position in weekend drama ratings in less than a month since its first episode aired on Apr. 2^nd. Part of the reason “Can You Hear My Heart?” saw an increase this weekend was because of SBS “New Tales of Gisaeng,” which didn’t air on Saturday due to a live broadcast of the World Figure Skating Championships, featuring Kim Yuna. But many fans credit the quickly developing storyline and twisting relationships as main reasons for the rating hike—last week’s episode showed Dong Joo (Kim Jae Won’s role) fall in extreme pain after realizing the death of Woori’s (Hwang Jung Eum’s role) mother was in fact caused by his father. The most watched show in the same timeslot was the World Figure Skating Championships with a 21.7% rating, while KBS drama “King Geunchogo” recorded a mere 9.4%.
