Seo Taiji & the Boys to Get a German Remake?
Seo Taiji & the Boys, one of Korea’s most influential icons in the 1990s, are getting a German remake for their debut song I Know. German boy band Apollo 3 announced their plans to debut into the Korean and European market with five remakes from Seo Taiji & the Boys’ first album. The songs include I Know, Class Idea, Certain Victory, Fantasy Girl, and Come Back Home.
Like Seo Taiji & the Boys, Apollo 3 is a three member boy band. The three members are all in their early teens; and their hit songs include Superhelden (Superheroes in English) and Chaos. Apollo 3 gained popularity through YouTube and is currently managed by TRO Music. The group was in Korea as part of a music exchange program by Cats Music Academy when they first heard Seo Taiji & the Boys music. Apollo 3’s versions will mostly be in German with a few lines in Korean.

Seo Taiji’s agency, the Seo Taiji Company, denied the fact stating “there were no talks between the agencies about making a remake.”
Cats Music Academy, the company who suggested the remake to Apollo 3, responded, “We plan to formally ask for permission to remake the songs.” It is pretty predictable that the issue with copyright infringement will only grow stronger as the days go by. Cats Music Academy houses many of Korea’s acclaimed music artists, producers, and musicians.
