T-ara Cancels All Year-End Award Show Appearances
T-ara announced that they will be missing all year-end music award shows this year due to their busy promotional schedules. The shows they are confirmed to miss include the 2011 Melon Music Awards, Mnet 2011 MAMA, and the Golden Disk Awards. T-ara has received invitations to attend the shows, however, their overseas promotions in China, Japan, and Taiwan will keep them from joining the annual music festivals.
“Due to the promotions of mini album ‘Black Eyes’ and overseas schedules in Japan, China, and Taiwan, as well as other TV show and drama castings, we’ve decided to cancel all end of the year show appearances,” T-ara’s agency, Core Contents Media, said in a statement.
This is an unexpected move by T-ara and somewhat odd since the year-end award shows are usually the biggest and most popular programs of the year. Most artists would fight for a spot on the show, and maximize their publicity, but it seems like this is part of the new strategy we talked about for T-ara’s new album.
T-ara released the MV of “Cry Cry” on November 9. Their first live performance will through KBS “Music Bank” on November 18.
