Weekly K-Pop Music Chart 2011 - May Week 2
F(x) scores their first No. 1 song with Pinocchio (Danger). This song is sweeping near all the charts plus TV Station music shows so it is no surprise that the song becomes our new No. 1, despite a relatively low score. It is still rising on many charts so we expect this song to go over 900 points next week.
Rainbow’s “To Me” moves back up to No. 2 this week. This song is ahead of “Pinocchio” in airplay scores but was outscored in other categories. Still it has become Rainbow’s biggest hit to date.
There are four new songs in the top 10 this week, led by Jay Park’s “Abandoned”. The ex-2PM leader finally releases his first solo mini-album to the delight of his fans. Unlike his 2PM days, Jay is switching to a more funky, R&B style music. “Abandoned” have a good chance to challenge F(x) for the top spot next week.
The highest debut this week at No. 5 is CN Blue’s “Love Girl”. This song replaces their former No. 1 “Intuition” on the chart. “Love Girl” appears on both CN Blue’s regular album and the recently released repackage with an acoustic version of the same song. CN Blue is trying to extend their perfect chart record. So far their three songs have all gone to No. 1. Let see how “Love Girl” fares.
Many artists now debut with singles and mini-albums to solidify their fan base before they release their full length album. 2AM, CN Blue, 4minute, F(x) to name a few. Now it’s After School’s turn for a full length album. The group debuted more than two years ago. After many changes and member additions, and even the group’s image and concept is totally different from their debut days, they finally come out with their first album “Virgin”. The title song “Shampoo” moves into the top 10 this week at No. 7.
The last new song in the top 10 belongs to ERU. The title song “Unsophisticated And Childish” from his latest mini-album moves up 17 big spots to No. 10 this week. This song is one of the top airplay songs in Korea now.
GIRL POWER – There are five girl groups in the top ten this week (and another five from 11-20): F(x), Rainbow, 4minute, After School, and A Pink. In addition, Sistar’s sub-group Sistar 19 and Miss A’s new song “Love Alone” almost certainly will be in the top 10 next week, we are seeing many of these girl groups who has debuted less than three years blossoming into super stars. K-pop used to be male group dominated but the last two years has really changed.

Genre: Pop/Rock Ballad
Album: Z:Min digital single “Sharallala”
Listen To: Full Song
Comment: Z:Min is back with her 2nd digital single Sharallala which is a dynamic modern rock track with lot of energy and powerful instrumental. As well as this powerful track there is a nice unplugged version. The track is produced by Park Young Min and Hong Jung Soo, the team being known for Rumble Fish’s “Words That Gives Happiness”.
