Update: Wanna One's Yoon Ji Sung Selected As Interim Leader

Updated July 4 KST:

YMC Entertainment has now confirmed that Yoon Ji Sung has been selected to be interim leader of Wanna One, and that he was chosen by the members themselves. They have stated that the long-term leader of the group will be selected by the members as well.

In addition, they have responded to other rumors about decisions of members’ positions within the group (such as main vocalist, lead dancer, etc.) by denying that any positions have been determined yet.

An interim leader of “Produce 101 Season 2” boy group Wanna One has reportedly been chosen as the group prepares for their debut.

According to several sources in the industry on July 4, Wanna One’s Yoon Ji Sung has been chosen as the group’s leader for the time being. Yoon Ji Sung is said to have been decided on based on the recommendation of their agency YMC Entertainment and the members, since they believe as the eldest he will lead the others well.

It is reported that the selection is not necessarily permanent, as the members are planned to make a decision about who would be the best leader after living together in their dorm for a while. It is possible that their decision making process will be shown in their reality show, which is set to air in August.

Yoon Ji Sung is of course not only the eldest member of the group, but was also chosen as the favorite contestant of the trainees themselves, with Kang Daniel even saying that he calls him “mom.”

With the “Produce 101 Season 2” finale concerts on July 1 and 2 over, Wanna One is now focusing on preparing for their debut, which is planned for August.
