Entertainer Kim Jung Min Halts All TV Show Appearances And Takes Legal Action Against Ex-Boyfriend For Blackmail

Entertainer Kim Jung Min has opened up about the recent problems surrounding her ex-boyfriend.

Her ex-boyfriend Son Tae Young, the CEO of a popular coffee shop chain in Korea, was recently charged for blackmailing Kim Jung Min with a video of her and demanding money from her. CEO Son had previously accused Kim Jung Min of swindling money under false promises of marriage, saying, “Kim Jung Min used my money for the year and a half that we were in a relationship, and when I brought up the possibility of marriage, she disappeared.”

On July 21, Kim Jung Min posted on her Instagram about the issue.

She wrote, “I am a victim, and yet I was branded as something unthinkable. I met him in 2013 through a close acquaintance I used to work with. I loved him, and I believed his words when he said he loved me.”

She continued, “I dated him with marriage in mind, and when I found out about his countless problems with women and judged that I couldn’t marry him, his blackmailing and violent language began.”

“I gathered up evidence on everything that had occurred until then and submitted them to the court, and he was charged without detention. I thought I was freed of it now, but he is once again using another kind of violence on me by reporting false rumors to the press. Of course, I am affected by that violence. I have temporarily suspended all of my appearances on TV shows. […] My lawyer will announce the details later. Everything will be brought to light at the court in a few days.”

A source from her agency Log In Pictures stated, “The first trial will take place soon. We are currently preparing to submit the supplementary data the prosecution has requested,” and added, “We judged that continuing her activities on TV would be a burden on the programs. That is why we were thinking of making this issue public after temporarily leaving the shows. We will talk with Kim Jung Min about her return to the industry after monitoring the situation.”
