HyunA Shares Which Artist She Looks Up To + Reveals Meaning Behind Album Title "Following"
On August 29, HyunA attended the press conference for her sixth mini-album “Following” and talked about everything from her role models to the significance behind her album title.
Many female solo artists are often associated with the words “post-Lee Hyori” as Lee Hyori is one of the most distinctive female solo artists in K-pop. When asked about Lee Hyori, who wrapped up her own solo comeback promotions earlier this summer, HyunA said, “She’s a senior that gives me strength just through her existence alone and I would like to emulate her positive energy. I always read about her and watch any programs she appears on, and everything she says has deep significance and value.”
She continued, “Yesterday, I decided to watch one of Lee Hyori’s performances and her powerful presence had me watching another performance right after I finished the first one. I will work even harder myself.”
The artist also explained that she titled her comeback album “Following” because she wants to tell listeners to believe in her and follow her music. She said, “The album is for those who have followed me [throughout my career] and also a way for me to ask listeners to continue to follow and have an interest in my music.”
HyunA’s album “Following” will be released tonight at 6 p.m. KST.
