SHINee's Taemin Talks About His Experience As 'The Unit' Mentor So Far

On October 15, Taemin held a press conference before his solo concert at the Jamsil Arena in Seoul, where he spoke about the upcoming KBS idol rebooting show “The Unit.”

With his comeback set for October 16, Taemin has also been taking part as a mentor for “The Unit,” which will premiere later this month. “The Unit” mentors recently participated in the show’s open auditions, with 126 idols moving on to the next round.

During his recent concert press conference, Taemin was asked about taking on the role of a mentor on “The Unit.” He replied, “Although I’m lacking, I’ve become a mentor. This definitely doesn’t mean that I’m better [than the contestants]. Instead, I feel like I’m an acquaintance and colleague that does the same job as them.”

“I sincerely spoke to them about things that I felt like I have more experience in,” said Taemin. “I was actually really nervous at first, and I wondered if I’m really qualified to be judging anyone. I think that while talking about various things, I actually noticed some things that I need to correct about myself, and it’s been an opportunity for me to improve.”

Taemin’s fellow mentors on “The Unit” include Rain, HyunA, Urban Zapaka’s Jo Hyun Ah, Hwang Chi Yeol, and San E. The show will air its first episode on October 28 on KBS, and an MV has been released ahead of the premiere featuring the 126 contestants performing on stage.
