6 Reasons To Watch 'Go Back Couple'

KBS2’s newest drama, “Go Back Couple,” was one of the many dramas that premiered this month.  Although it hasn’t been getting the most publicity out of all the dramas out there, it’s a K-drama that really can’t be missed. I initially had no real interest in watching it, but decided to give it a try anyway, and I’m so glad I did. “Go Back Couple” has been one of my favorite dramas as of late, and I’ve become pretty emotionally attached to it.

Here are 6 reasons why this should be on your next watch list!

(Minor spoilers ahead)

1. The adorableness between Jang Nara and Son Ho Jun

They seemed like an unlikely pair at first, but after watching just the first couple episodes, I couldn’t help but gush over how cute they are as a couple. Their chemistry really can’t be missed, and it seems as though they connect really well — probably off-screen, too! Although the beginning of the drama shows this couple fighting and bickering, they still manage to look adorable together.

SO shipping these two!

2. The heart-warming plot

Choi Ban Do (Son Ho Jun) and Ma Jin Joo (Jang Nara) are at their wits end in their marriage as they decide to get a divorce. They got married straight out of university and found it difficult to maintain their feelings for each other after so many years of being married. Shortly after their divorce becomes official, the two travel back in time to when they first met in university. It’s a story that shows what happens after the “happily ever after” in a romance.

The story is not really unique by any means, as it involves traveling back in time to the past, but it is unique in the sense where it touches on family and friendships from the past, which really touches your soul. It’s a K-drama about regret, what-ifs, and hope. There are some relationships that Ma Jin Joo had missed, and she is able to rekindle those, which will really give you the feels. It really makes you think about the current relationships you have in your life and how much you should value and cherish them.

If you watched this part, you were probably crying. I still am.

3. The soundtrack

The OST for this drama so far has been so sweet and perfect for the setting of it. Throughout the heart-wrenching moments, the OST has provided us with so much more feel to the story that you really can’t help but get emotional!

My heart!

Throughout the drama, you also get to hear a handful of music that was popular from the ’90s, which enhances that nostalgic feel. If you’re a fan of old-school music, you’ll get a kick out of it!

This song was playing in the background of one of the recent episodes and totally had us going down memory lane:

4. Son Ho Jun and Jang Nara’s acting

Jang Nara has had such a promising career. Her consistent ability to show such solid performances in all of her K-dramas is respectable in itself. She also has a knack for picking really good scripts, which is why we can trust that her dramas will most likely be worth the watch.

There’s something about Jang Nara and her ability to portray such strong emotions. I’m pretty sure I cry along with her whenever she’s bawling. Her ability to show the emotions of her character, Ma Jin Joo, and how unhappy she is with her marriage and life is all too real. Remember her heart-wrenching performance in “Fated to Love You“?!

It feels like just yesterday when we were seeing Son Ho Jun as the charming Hae Tae in “Reply 1994.” I’m so proud that Son Ho Jun has been able to land his first K-drama lead role since then and that the drama he’s starring in is such a good one. He has all the skills and personality to become a top actor, and there’s no doubt that he’s been impressing us with his acting. He’s able to play such versatile characters, and this role is no different. Let’s hope this is just the start of seeing him in starring roles!

5. THE SECOND-LEAD

My goodness. The second lead game is strong in this drama, folks. Jung Nam Gil (played by Jang Ki Yong) is the son of a wealthy family. He seems to butt heads a lot with his father, and despite being really popular in school, he has no interest in girls or a dating life. That is, until he meets Ma Jin Joo. His tough exterior is no match for the heart he wears on his sleeve while falling for her.

Just look at how much he adores her already!

6. The relatable main female lead

Ma Jin Joo embodies a lot of real life struggles that many people can relate to. Apart from her unhappy marriage, Ma Jin Joo feels lonely and out of place. While people around her are living happy and exciting lives, she feels like she’s taking a step back and isn’t able to enjoy life as much as she used to. She’s faced the obstacles and worries that come with growing up and becoming an adult — something many of us can relate to.
