On November 1, a source from “Infinite Challenge” made an official statement on filming for the torch lighting for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, in light of the fact that the show is currently not on air due to the MBC strike. The source stated, “This isn’t a large-scale shoot; it will be done in a single filming. It’s something that was planned from a while back and deals with a national event. It isn’t possible to cancel it, so we will just film simply.”

Yoo Jae Suk, Park Myung Soo, Jung Joon Ha, Haha, and Yang Se Hyung will take part in the torch lighting relay with other non-celebrity runners. Other celebrities participating in the torch lighting are Suzy, soccer coach Cha Doo Ri, soccer player Shin Young Rok, and figure skater Yoo Young Do. They will each run 200 meters (approximately 0.12 miles) toward Pyeongchang while holding the torch.

Viewers have been curious about the filming, as “Infinite Challenge” has been off the air for eight weeks, since MBC employees went on strike. The strike began on September 4 at 12:00 a.m. Currently 93.2 percent of the MBC media union is participating in the strike.
