JTBC’s “Let’s Eat Dinner Together” is under fire for asking some intrusive questions to the families they visit.

The variety show features hosts Kang Ho Dong and Lee Kyung Kyu teaming up with celebrity guests and going around a neighborhood to find someone who will invite them in for dinner and conversation.

During the November 8 broadcast that featured TWICE’s Dahyun and Jeongyeon, Lee Kyung Kyu asked a family if they’re renting their house under the system of wolse (deposit with monthly payment) or jeonse (one large lump-sum deposit). Because this is considered to be an indicator of wealth in Korea, viewers were displeased that Lee Kyung Kyu had asked this kind of question, along with many other questions regarding their occupations and personal love lives.

After watching the episode, some viewers left comments like, “They asked sensitive questions on broadcast,” “Do they have to ask for personal information like this,” and “Why do they ask about their workplace?” On the other hand, some commented, “I’m sure they edited out in-depth information,” “It’s just a variety show,” and “Don’t you usually ask those kinds of questions to people you meet for the first time?”

What are your thoughts on this situation?
