8 Burning Questions From "While You Were Sleeping" Episodes 13 And 14
Can you believe that there are only two more episodes left of “While You Were Sleeping”? We’re nearing the end, but it’s not over yet, as episodes 13 and 14 threw some great content our way this week to amp up the drama as we approach the show’s climax. Now is the perfect time to take a look at some of the big questions that still remain unanswered as we gear up for the grand finale next week!
Warning: spoilers for Episodes 13 and 14 ahead.
1. What will happen to Hong Joo?
As Hong Joo (Suzy) faces her worst nightmare (literally), this is the most burning question that we all want to know the answer to. We’ve finally arrived at the climactic scene where Hong Joo lays on the ground, half-conscious, in the pouring rain, with the infamous green umbrella next to her – and we now know how she got there.
It’s probably a safe bet that Jae Chan (Lee Jong Suk) will swoop in just in time to save Hong Joo, especially because she called out to him in his dream.
But that won’t stop us from being on edge until next week, when we find out for certain if Hong Joo is safe and sound!
2. Will Yoo Beom finally get what he deserves?
On a related note, it appears that Yoo Beom’s (Lee Sang Yeob) downfall is drawing closer and closer. If the reinvestigation into the IV serial killer case uncovers Yoo Beom’s past fabrication of evidence, then it’ll be game over for our suave lawyer bad guy – especially if the real murderer, Ha Joo An, has anything to say about it.
Will Yoo Beom fail in his plan to silence Hong Joo? Will the reinvestigation reveal the truth? Or will he weasel his way out of this, too, with his secrets intact? All these questions are making him (and us) sweat!
3. How will the reinvestigation impact Investigator Choi?
While we want the reinvestigation into the IV serial killer case to uncover Yoo Beom’s lies, we definitely don’t want Choi Dam Dong (Kim Won Hae) to be implicated as well. But it looks like that’s a distinct possibility, given that Investigator Choi also worked on the case – even though he didn’t do anything wrong himself.
Will Investigator Choi be brought down, undeservedly, with Yoo Beom? Or can he and Jae Chan figure out a way to prove his innocence? We hope it’s the latter!
4. Has Investigator Choi been working behind the scenes this whole time?
The drama threw us a huge plot twist when it revealed that the police officer that Jae Chan and Hong Joo saved when they were children is none other than Investigator Choi. While this discovery tied together a few loose plot ends, it also opened up a whole host of questions.
Investigator Choi has known that Jae Chan is the boy who saved him from drowning all those years ago, and has dreams about Jae Chan and Hong Joo when they’re in danger.
This makes us wonder… has he somehow been helping them all this time, in ways we didn’t realize? Maybe he helped Jae Chan get his job at the prosecution office in the first place. Maybe he has been having dreams about their many other near-death experiences this whole time, and has also been working behind the scenes in these situations to save them. We can only speculate for now, but it’ll be interesting to see if this turns out to be the case!
5. Who is Prosecutor Lee dating?
Prosecutor Lee Ji Kwang (Min Sung Wook) is totally dating someone and we need to know who it is that makes him clutch his heart and skip down the hallway with such merriment.
Can it please be Prosecutor Son? Because they’re adorable together.
6. What’s the deal with Woo Tak’s secret(s)?
Both Hong Joo and police officer Oh now know that Woo Tak (Jung Hae In) is colorblind.
Is his secret safe, or is it bound to come out? Will it somehow come into play in the finale, perhaps in relation to Yoo Beom’s *green* umbrella? Is there something to the fact that Yoo Beom has a green umbrella, but villainess Ha Joo An enters his office with a red one the night that Hong Joo is in danger?
We also can’t help but wonder if this is Woo Tak’s only secret. The drama has definitely implied that he has multiple, and in a show in which all the main characters are so interconnected through their pasts, it seems odd that Woo Tak doesn’t also have a hidden past that is in some way bound up with Hong Joo’s, Jae Chan’s, and Investigator Choi’s. So what are Woo Tak’s other secrets?
7. What are the dream rules?
Okay, so this question pertains to the whole drama rather than just episodes 13 and 14, but we still don’t have an answer to one of the most fundamental questions about the show: how do these dreams work, and why do our characters have them? So far our best bet is Woo Tak’s theory:
Episodes 13 and 14 gave us a little more evidence to back this hypothesis, because now we know that Investigator Choi dreams about Hong Joo and Jae Chan, and they saved his life when they were younger.
But it still doesn’t explain what exactly the rules of these dreams are. Why doesn’t Jae Chan have a dream about Hong Joo – or why doesn’t Woo Tak have a dream about Jae Chan – being in danger in the burning house in Episode 13? Plus, none of this really explains why Hong Joo has the dreams in the first place. As far as we know, she’s had them since she was a child and they’ve been about people ranging from her own parents to complete strangers. Will we ever get a clear explanation for these dreams?
8. What were the results of Bong sunbae’s investigative report on pregnancy?
Finally, we’re dying to see this report, because we seriously want to know how this turned out for him:
Bong sunbae, fighting!
