"Two Cops" To Air Re-Runs Of First Four Episodes This Weekend
MBC recently revealed, “Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Two Cops,’ which aired its first episode last Monday, will re-run this Saturday and Sunday.”
On Saturday, Episodes 1 through 4 will air at 1:30 p.m. KST and on Sunday, episodes 3 and 4 will air at 1:05 p.m. KST. It was also revealed that next Monday (December 4) at 9:00 p.m. KST before airing Episodes 5 and 6, the drama would be airing a re-edited version of previously released episodes for viewers to continuously enjoy the new drama.
Many suspect that the broadcasting station’s decision has to do with the low viewership ratings the drama has brought in the last four episodes. The first two episodes, which aired on November 27, achieved 4.6 percent and 5.1 percent respectively, and lost to “Oh, the Mysterious” which aired its first episode in the same day and time slot as well. The drama’s third and fourth episode achieved lower viewership ratings, as did the third and fourth episodes of “Oh, the Mysterious,” with 3.3 percent and 3.6 percent respectively.
The drama previously gained a lot of attention for its casting of Jo Jung Suk and Girl’s Day’s Hyeri, however it has failed to live up to its expectations so far. The conman, detective, local news reporter, and possession has appeared to be too repetitive as drama subjects go, and many also criticized Hyeri’s acting.
The MBC strike has also had an effect on the drama. “20th Century Boy and Girl” previously aired in the same time slot and due to the strike, the broadcast times varied widely and even almost concluded early. The drama eventually ended with an average of 2 percent viewership ratings.
However, as KBS’s popular “Witch’s Court” ended its run last Tuesday, “Two Cops” still has potential to gain viewers before the premiere of the next drama in the same time slot, “Jugglers.”
“Two Cops” is about detective Cha Dong Tak who is possessed by a con man and tough local news reporter Song Ji An. The drama airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. KST.
