"Running Man" PD Comments On Possibility Of Romance Between Kim Jong Kook And Song Ji Hyo

The producing director (PD) of “Running Man,” Jung Chul Min, spoke candidly about the recent dating rumors between Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo.

Recent “Running Man” episodes have featured jokes among the members about the possibility of Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo dating. While fellow member Ji Suk Jin notably joked that he would bet his entire fortune that the two were not a couple, Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo drew suspicions with their actions on the January 14 episode of “Running Man.” Kim Jong Kook complimented Song Ji Hyo for her presentation, causing the rest of the members to playfully ask if the two are dating. In particular, Yoo Jae Suk pointed out the two seemed to be hanging out a lot, even at the 2017 SBS Entertainment Awards.

In response to the rumors between Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo, the “Running Man” PD commented, “It’s true that the two hang out privately as well. However, the staff has never given any directions to create a love line. If there’s a suspicious feeling on set while filming, we just try to capture the members’ reactions.”

The PD added, “To be honest, I think a love line could be burdensome to Song Ji Hyo because she already had ‘Monday couple’ [with Gary]. But [Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo] are close to begin with, which is why the rumors may have started. Some viewers say that they’re sick of love lines, but we can’t hide what happens.”

He continued, “[Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo] are definitely not putting on a show or anything like that. What you see is really all there is. The two are close enough where Ji Suk Jin joked he would bet his entire fortune on them not dating. Just like how [the members] reacted with ‘Huh? What’s this?,’ the staff share the same position.”
