Producer Of New Variety Show Says The Concept Was Inspired By A BTS Song
One of BTS’s songs has inspired a new variety show!
On February 20, the new variety show from tvN held a press conference at the Stanford Hotel Seoul. The show is titled “Are We Strangers” (literal translation) and the producing director (PD) is Lee Geun Chan.
During the press conference, PD Lee said, “When the staff began planning the program and thinking about what kind of show we wanted to make, we happened to hear a song from BTS called ‘Paldogangsan’ (Satoori Rap). The song has lyrics in regional dialects from the eight provinces of Korea. We realized that even these young kids were writing music about communicating between the eight provinces of Korea. We thought that our country is not communicating well with each another and wanted to make a show that focuses on communication.”
“Are We Strangers” is a program that aims to promote communication between people through exchanging packed lunches. Each episode, the guests give a packed lunch to a person that they’ve been wanting to communicate with for a long time. The lunch has to represent in some way their feelings for the other person. The MCs include Park Myung Soo, Jun Hyun Moo, Hwang Gyo Ik, Ji Il Joo, and The Boyz’s Sangyeon.
The first episode premieres on February 26 at 8:10 p.m. KST.
