Red Velvet's Wendy Becomes A Holographic Avatar In New AI Device
SK Telecom has revealed their new device, which features a hologram of Red Velvet’s Wendy that will help users in their daily lives.
The device is called a HoloBox, and it’s the result of an alliance between SK Telecom and SM Entertainment.
The HoloBox is 365 millimeters (approximately 14.4 inches) tall and 170 millimeters (approximately 6.7 inches) in diameter, and features high-definition images using laser-based ultra short throw projection technology. It includes AI that can understand a conversation, and a hologram display that shows the avatar’s gestures and expressions.
Users can talk to the “Wendy” avatar, with their music streaming and smart home systems linked up to the HoloBox. The HoloBox’s features include the ability to control appliances such as lights, dehumidifiers, outlets, and televisions; recommend music and play it; provide information about the weather and the user’s schedule; have simple conversations with the users; and much more.
SK Telecom will be introducing their new device at Mobile World Congress 2018 in Spain on February 26.
