Case Regarding "Hwayugi" Set Accident Forwarded To Prosecution
Police have forwarded a case against three persons connected to the accident that occurred on the set of “Hwayugi” to the prosecution as a recommendation for indictment.
In December 2017, a crew member of “Hwayugi” was severely injured when he fell from a height over 3 meters (approximately 9.84 feet) while installing a chandelier from the ceiling late at night at the request of a producer. He broke his spine and hip bone, and became paralyzed from the waist down due to the accident. His agency MBC Art filed an official complaint with the police in January regarding negligence resulting in injury and possible threats or coercion in the workplace.
On March 8, a source from the Anseong Police Station confirmed they have booked three people — CEO “A” from JS Pictures (the production company of “Hwayugi”), the art director, and a person from set installation — without detention and that they have been charged with professional negligence resulting in injury. The police’s investigation concluded that the three persons are responsible in regards to the accident, leading the case to be forwarded to the prosecution.
