WINNER's Kim Jin Woo Sheds Tears As He Reflects On His Relationship With His Father
WINNER’s Kim Jin Woo shed tears as he looked back on his past and opened up about his father’s profession.
The episode of JTBC’s “Do The Right Thing” that aired on March 9 had the cast going to a “Father School” in prison where they talked about their relationships with their fathers. It is part of a humanistic education program that is meant to help inmates understand the value of family.
As everyone shared stories about their past, Kim Jin Woo quietly opened up with, “I grew up on an island, and my father was a fisherman.” He went on to say, “To be honest, I used to be embarrassed by my dad’s profession when I was little. I don’t know why I was like that when I was younger. I don’t feel that way at all anymore, I’m proud of him.”
Kim Jin Woo shed tears as he expressed, “I’m so sorry to my father for hurting him. I only used to tell him that I loved him when he asked me to, and I’m so sorry that I never said it to him without being prompted.” He concluded by saying, “I didn’t have any memorable moments with my dad growing up. I actually got to travel with him recently for a different TV show, and it made me so happy.”
Last December, Kim Jin Woo and his father warmed the hearts of viewers when they traveled together for MBC’s “Wizard of Nowhere.” During the show, his father expressed his regrets of not initially supporting his son’s dreams of becoming a singer, and the father and son duo bonded as they learned more about each other.
JTBC’s “Do The Right Thing” is a reality show that takes the cast through everything from being detained to tried in court and imprisoned to give viewers a better understanding of the judicial system.
