Red Velvet's Joy Shares Why She Decided To Star In "Tempted" And Thoughts On Young Love
Red Velvet’s Joy talked about playing the lead of the upcoming MBC drama “Tempted” at the recent press conference for the drama.
Joy began, “This is my second drama after ‘The Liar and His Lover.’ This drama is also being produced by the same production company.”
She continued, “I don’t have a lot of experience, so I had doubts on whether I could do a good job. But when I read the script, I thought that my current age and appearance were fitting for the youthfulness of a 20-year-old. I thought that if I put in some effort, I could portray Tae Hee well.”
Joy said that she was preparing a lot for her character and added, “I constantly think about what Tae Hee would think or say in a situation.”Since “Tempted” is centered around the concept of young love, Joy was asked about her thoughts on “the love of a 20-year-old.” She answered, “[I think it’s] not knowing if it’s love because it’s not yet ripe but making you look forward to when it does ripen.”
Joy expressed carefully optimistic feelings about the drama and the beauty of youth. She said, “There’s a lot that I still don’t know, so I’m very scared, but I’m experiencing things one-by-one and think that I’ll earn happiness and knowledge through the process. It’s an age where I’m able to experience things I’ll never be able to experience again, and I worked hard to express those youthful feelings.”
She also shared her thoughts on starring in her first drama that is being aired on a public broadcasting station. Joy commented, “I’m trying not to put too much emphasis on the fact that it’s a public broadcasting station drama. It’s more important that I’m doing a good project. I want to put the weight of being the lead of a public broadcast drama behind me, and I want to work hard on filming with these people I like.”
“Tempted” is a drama based on the French novel “Dangerous Liaisons” that will tell the story of four college students who play a dangerous game of love and seduction. The drama will premiere on March 12 at 10 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki!
