Youngest Member Of Currently Promoting Girl Group Charms The Panel On "King Of Masked Singer"
On the March 18 episode of MBC’s “King of Masked Singer,” several contestants battled to see who would be the one to try and block the current “king” from a third consecutive win.
The final showdown in Round 1 was between “La La Land” and “Harlequin,” who performed S#arp’s “Sweety.”
Panelist Yoo Young Suk said, “La La Land has the kind of voice that received elite training. I suspect they might become a strong contender for the crown. But I picked Harlequin. She has a very urban tone. I can’t formally describe it.”
Jo Jang Hyuk added, “Harlequin has a fresh charm and makes you want to listen.”
Spoiler
La La Land eventually took the win with 58 votes to Harlequin’s 41. Singing Ben’s “Don’t Go Today,” Harlequin took off her mask to reveal her identity as APRIL’s Jinsol.
Jinsol is APRIL’s youngest member and lead vocalist. The group debuted in 2015 but went through several lineup changes, including the departures of Somin (now of KARD) and Hyunjoo (now of UNI.T) and the additions of Chaekyung and Rachel.
In 2018, Jinsol and Naeun teamed up for a special subunit release “My Story” before the full group made with a comeback in March with “The Blue.”
After her reveal, Jinsol said, “There are a lot of people who remember me as ‘Hani’ [the host of a popular kids’ show], but I am really a singer. I’m glad that I could try a more mature song through this performance.”
