TVXQ Tops Oricon Charts And Breaks Own Record With New DVD
TVXQ has shown once again, that they are a major force in the K-Pop world.
On April 4, according to SM Entertainment, TVXQ has set an impressive record with their DVDs of their Japanese tour titled “東方神起 LIVE TOUR 2017 ~Begin Again~.” The DVDs were released on March 28 and in its first week of sales, it has placed No. 1 on Oricon’s weekly DVD music charts, the general DVD chart, as well as the combined music video charts which includes the sales from the DVDs as well as the Blu-ray Discs.
TVXQ previously achieved No. 1 with their 2015 tour DVDs. The group has now held the No. 1 spot for these charts a total of nine times, breaking their own record as the foreign artist with the most No. 1 DVD sales on the Oricon charts.
On April 4, Oricon announced TVXQ’s recent success on their official homepage. The site also stated, “TVXQ previously achieved No. 1 on the DVD charts on August 31, 2015. After two years and seven months, with their ninth work, they have broken their own record and achieved foreign artist with the most No. 1 DVDs.”
The DVDs that broke the record was of their third Japanese five-dome tour and includes their final concert of the tour in Osaka which took place on January 21. The DVD also has their title track “Reboot” which was released last December, as well as a re-recorded version of “Begin.”
TVXQ will be performing on May 5 to 6 in Seoul for their Korean concert, and will also be performing at the Nissan Stadium in Japan on June 8 to 10, which has a seating capacity of 75,000 people.
