Steven Yeun Talks About How His Korean Improved While Working On 'Burning'

On May 4, Steven Yeun attended a press conference ahead of his attendance to the 71st Cannes Film Festival for his upcoming film “Burning.”

The Korean-American revealed that while living in Korea for four months for filming, his Korean improved quite a bit. He shared, “Yoo Ah In, Jeon Jong Seo, and the director helped me a lot. Every day, during breaks, the director would coach me.” He added, “I like being in Korea right now. Coming here has become comfortable and we’ve learnt a lot from each other.”

“Burning” is about Jong Soo (played by Yoo Ah In) who works as a part-time employee at a distribution company who meets his childhood friend Hae Mi (played by Jeon Jong Seo). Jong Soo is introduced to the mysterious Ben (played by Steven Yeun) through Hae Mi and strange things happen to the three of them.

“Burning” has been nominated for the Palme d’Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, and is the only Korean film to be officially invited to the film festival this year. It will premiere on May 17.
