Heize Talks About Her Difficult Climb To Success On 'Let's Eat Dinner Together'

Heize spoke about the hardships she encountered at the beginning of her career on JTBC’s “Let’s Eat Dinner Together.”

On the June 6 episode, Heize appeared on the show alongside Yubin to find a family to eat dinner in the U neighborhood of Haeundae in Busan.

She said, “I debuted late at 24 years old. I decided to pursue music when I was 22 to 23 years old, and boldly came to Seoul to do music. My dad was strongly opposed to it, so I couldn’t ask for help.”

She continued, “I worked three part-time jobs a day. I worked at a café, bakery, tuna restaurant, and passed out flyers at an apartment.”

She added, “I also used to buy a lunch box from a convenience store and split it up for three meals. Right when I was about to give up becoming a singer, I appeared on ‘Unpretty Rapstar.'”

Commenting on being referred to as “the queen of music charts,” Heize previously said in an interview, “I’ve never been happy that I got No. 1 on the music chart. There are so many good songs in the world that have not been No. 1. I know all too well that being No. 1 doesn’t mean that I’m the best singer or that my song is the best. Those kinds of descriptions feel excessive, so I feel burdened. There will be a day when I don’t get No. 1.”

Heize recently collaborated on track “Hourglass” with Wanna One’s Ong Seong Woo and Lee Dae Hwi.
