Watch: "Along With the Gods 2" Takes Viewers On Emotional Roller Coaster In Suspenseful Trailer
“Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days” has dropped its first official trailer ahead of its release later this summer!
Based on a popular web comic series, this two-part series began with “Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds,” which was a huge success as it surpassed many milestones in record time. With over 14.4 million moviegoers recorded, the first film is currently the second biggest box office hit in Korean film history.
The upcoming sequel “Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days” will continue the story of the three grim reapers from the first film (played by Ha Jung Woo, Joo Ji Hoon, and Kim Hyang Gi) as they guide their once-impossible 49th soul Soo Hong (Kim Dong Wook) through the trials of the underworld with the promise of reincarnation.
During their fate-determining journey, they meet the mysterious Sung Joo Shin (Ma Dong Seok), who knows these grim reapers’ buried and forgotten past from 1000 years ago. As the grim reapers and Soo Hong teeter on the edge of the past, life, and the afterlife, the connections between their long-forgotten secrets come to light.
The trailer hints at a darker underlying emotion that pervades the entire film, one that is different from that of the first movie. As scenes flash by, a voice ominously says, “But there is one thing that seems to be for certain. There are no bad humans. When you feel resentful and bitter, when you don’t understand, think of everything backwards.”
At the very end, Ha Jung Woo declares, “I request that the king of the underworld who controls the afterlife act as the last witness.”
“Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days” will be released in South Korean theaters on August 1.
