EXO Meets A Fan Battling Cancer And Makes Her Wish Come True

EXO helped make a fan’s wish come true!

On June 23, EXO met a 17-year-old fan named Michelle Parenteau backstage at the 2018 Lotte Duty Free Family Concert which was held at the Seoul Olympic Stadium. She came to Korea from California to meet the idols.

Michelle has been battling cancer since 2015. When she visited a hospital after feeling there was something wrong with her chin, it was discovered she had a cyst in her chin as well as an abdominal tumor, and received surgery to remove the tumor.

EXO’s music gave her strength during her difficult time of treatment. She was physically and mentally comforted by EXO’s music and wanted to personally thank them.

In March, Michelle’s story was sent to SM Entertainment via Make-a-Wish Korea and they were successful in making this meeting possible.

EXO met Michelle at their dressing room before their performance. The members welcomed her, and she expressed her gratitude to the members after greeting them.

Michelle said, “Because of EXO, I was able to go through with the difficult surgery. I’m really happy I was able to personally thank them like this today.”

EXO also previously met another fan diagnosed with leukemia in 2016 through the organization. Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes of children who are battling leukemia, brain tumors, lymphoma, and other rare diseases. Since its establishment in 2002, the foundation has granted the wishes of 3,900 children.
