Kim Chang Wan Reportedly Leaves "Four Sons" Due To Contract Issues, Production Company Responds
The drama “Four Sons” is continuing to make headlines for issues surrounding its production.
On July 19, Victory Contents issued an official statement in response to reports that Kim Chang Wan had cancelled his contract. A report stated that it was due to reasons including a lack of payment of his contract deposit and the postponement of filming, which meant that the terms of his contract had not been fulfilled.
A representative of Kim Chang Wan has confirmed that he has expressed his intention to withdraw from the show. “The biggest reason is that trust [with the production company] has been broken,” they stated. “Filming is not being carried out as normal.”
Victory Contents’ statement reads as follows:
“We will clarify the truth regarding today’s reports about actor Kim Chang Wan.
“In May, we belatedly found out that Mountain Movement Story, which lost its status as our co-production company, made a contract with Kim Chang Wan without prior consultation in January. Today’s reports of non-payment regarding the casting contract and cancellation all happened between Mountain Movement Story and Kim Chang Wan’s agency.
“The notice of the termination of the casting contract that was sent by Kim Chang Wan’s side was not received by us but by Mountain Movement Story. After recently becoming aware of this, we repeatedly requested confirmation from Mountain Movement Story through phone, text messages, and emails, but did not receive any responses until seeing the reports today.
“Since we’re not the ones who made the casting contract, we’re cautious about talking about anything related to the matter. However, today’s reports stating that we did not pay the contract deposit are not true and it’s also not true that Mountain Movement Story canceled the contract with intentions of resigning a contract with us.
“We’re currently in the process of understanding the situation and will do our best to resolve it.”
Victory Contents and producing director Jang Tae Yoo also recently released formal responses regarding unresolved issues on set such as suspension of filming and unpaid wages.
