Kim Jong Kook Talks About His Frugal Image And His Hopes For Marriage

Kim Jong Kook explained why many people think he’s stingy and talked about his marriage plans in an interview on the July 27 episode of KBS’s “Entertainment Weekly.”

The singer talked about how people believe he’s stingy. He commented, “I’m not stingy. It’s just that I don’t need a lot of things.” When asked if his father’s influence had to do with his frugal habits, he answered, “People around me say he’s severe enough to appear on ‘Hello Counselor.'”

He made the interviewer laugh by explaining his father’s toilet paper logic, saying, “When he does his business in the bathroom, he only uses a certain amount of toilet paper. He tells me to use it piece by piece. He tells me to use one piece, then if I need more I use another. He told me that’s the reason why toilet paper is divided into pieces.”

Kim Jong Kook talked about how he isn’t frugal to that extent and explained, “I like spending [on my friends]. I like people’s reaction when I do something for them, or seeing them wear something I bought them. I don’t hold back on things that I want. I even buy 10 pairs of the same shorts. I’m an extravagant guy.”

On the topic of marriage, he shared, “It’s not something that happens because you want it to. The woman [I marry] is going to be someone who I spend the rest of my life with. I want to make her the happiest woman, and one that others will be envious of.”

In another segment, Kim Jong Kook was given the option to do 10 push-ups instead of answering the questions given to him. When asked who was closer to his ideal type between Song Ji Hyo and Hong Jin Young, he got down and chose to do the push-ups instead of answering.
