MAMAMOO's Hwasa Receives Unusual Birthday Cake On "Running Man"

On the latest episode of “Running Man,” MAMAMOO’s Hwasa received a unique birthday surprise!

During the August 5 episode of the SBS variety show, the cast members split up into pairs to carry out various missions with the help of a celebrity guest. Each member was also assigned a separate secret mission.

Song Ji Hyo and HaHa’s guest was MAMAMOO, and they went all the way to RBW Entertainment in order to meet the group. On the way there, the two “Running Man” members learned that it happened to be Hwasa’s birthday that day.

HaHa, whose secret mission was to get the MAMAMOO members to feed him a bite of their food, came up with the idea of preparing a special birthday “cake” for Hwasa, hoping that she would then offer him a bite.

Hwasa recently attracted attention for sparking “tripe fever” in Korea after eating tripe on MBC’s “I Live Alone,” with her obvious and relatable enjoyment of her meal leading the dish to suddenly rise in popularity throughout the nation. HaHa suggested that they surprise the famous tripe-lover with an entire “cake” made out of tripe.

In order to prepare Hwasa’s birthday surprise, HaHa and Song Ji Hyo went to a restaurant and personally arranged tripe in a round shape to resemble a cake. They then presented it to Hwasa adorned with a colorful array of lit candles.

Visibly amused and delighted by the unexpected birthday cake, Hwasa wasted no time in devouring it with the same gusto that originally triggered “tripe fever” nationwide.
