DIA Opens Up About Their Hiatus And 1st Comeback Since Eunjin's Departure
DIA held a showcase for the release of their fourth mini album “Summer Ade” on August 9 and opened up about returning as an eight-member group following the departure of member Eunjin.
This is DIA’s first comeback in approximately 10 months since their third mini album “Gift” last October, and the members hope to show how much they have grown in terms of their music as well as their teamwork. This is the group’s first comeback with eight members since Eunjin announced that she would be leaving DIA due to health reasons.
When asked about Eunjin, leader Ki Heehyun showed her support for her former team member as she stated, “This is our first comeback since Eunjin’s departure from DIA. We fully respect her decision to leave the group. We’ve been watching over her and she’s doing well. We’re just hoping for her happiness.”
The members also expressed their excitement to show their growth after a long hiatus. Jung Chaeyeon said, “This is our first comeback in a while and we’ve matured a lot in that time. We’ve changed up our concept, and we hope that lots of people will love what we’ve done.” Eunice candidly opened up and said, “As our hiatus grew longer and our comeback became later, we worried whether we’d be able to make a comeback at all. We were also worried that our fans might leave us. We even talked about the chance that this could be our last album if it doesn’t do well.”
Ki Heehyun shared that despite these concerns, the group is approaching their upcoming activities with a positive attitude and added, “Our comeback was pushed back once, and we all got together to talk about it and shared the sentiments that we would work even harder as we were being given more time to prepare. We all agreed to do our best so that we don’t have any regrets.”
DIA is set to return with their title track “Woo Woo” from their fourth mini album “Summer Ade” On August 9 at 6 p.m. KST.
