“Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days” shows no signs of slowing down at the box office!
The second installment of the “Along with the Gods” film series has been smashing box office records since its release on August 1, when it became the first Korean film to surpass 1 million moviegoers on its opening day. It has since gone on to set a new record for the highest number of moviegoers in a single day, with over 1.4 million people flocking to see the film on August 4 alone.
On August 11, the Korean Film Council reported that as of 8:20 p.m. KST, “Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days” had attracted a total of 9,001,017 moviegoers. The film took just 11 days to surpass 9 million moviegoers, tying the record set by “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” for fastest Korean film to reach the milestone.
Industry experts speculate that “Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days” will reach 10 million moviegoers sometime within the next two days, which will make “Along with the Gods” the first Korean film series to have two movies each sell over 10 million tickets at the box office.
