Super Junior's Ryeowook To Perform With World-Renowned Soprano Jo Sumi At Her Concert
Super Junior’s Ryeowook will be standing on stage with world-renowned soprano Jo Sumi!
As announced on August 13, the idol is going to perform with her at “Jo Sumi’s Park Concert — One Night in Paris” next month. Jo Sumi first proposed the collaboration as someone who is interested in a wide variety of genres and popular singers.
Ryeowook shared his thoughts on his special appearance, saying, “I went to go see Jo Sumi’s concert three years ago. At that time, I freely dreamed of a ‘duet’ without any actual expectations. It is an honor and I am very ecstatic that that dream has come true. I personally am very much looking forward to this surreal performance, and I hope many people will come to watch.”
Jo Sumi also explained how she sees working with “a popular music icon among younger generations like Ryeowook” as a natural opportunity to introduce classical music to younger people. Sharing her excitement, Jo Sumi expressed, “I hope that the audience will be able to experience a new kind of happiness and energy through Ryeowook’s performance.”
The annual “Park Concert” series began in 2010 with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and has previously featured soprano Jo Sumi, pianist and conductor Chung Myung Whun, and singer Jang Sa Ik. This will be Jo Sumi’s third park concert following ones in 2011 and 2013.
“Jo Sumi’s Park Concert — One Night in Paris” will take place on September 9 at 7 p.m. KST at Olympic Park 88 Grass Yard.
