BTS and BLACKPINK have made YouTube history yet again!

On August 16, BTS and BLACKPINK were reported to be the first K-pop groups ever to receive Diamond Creator Awards from YouTube after each surpassing 10 million subscribers on their official channels.

BTS posted photos of their award on Twitter, writing, “Everyone! Because BANGTANTV has surpassed 10 million subscribers, we’ve received a Diamond button from YouTube. Thank you so much.” They added excitedly in a later post, “YouTube Diamond!!!”

Additionally, as of 3 p.m. KST, BLACKPINK had a total of 10,739,217 subscribers on YouTube, the highest number achieved by any single K-pop group (excluding agency-wide channels).

BLACKPINK’s subscriber count is also the second-highest ever achieved by a single K-pop artist, trailing only Psy, who received his own YouTube Diamond Creator Award last year.

YouTube awards content creators with a Silver Creator Award for surpassing 100,000 subscribers, a Gold Creator Award for surpassing 1 million subscribers, and a Diamond Creator Award for surpassing 10 million subscribers.

Both groups’ latest title tracks shattered countless YouTube records upon their release, with BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” most recently breaking the record for fastest K-pop group music video to reach 250 million views. “DDU-DU DDU-DU” also achieved the second-highest number of views in the first 24 hours of its release out of all the music videos in YouTube history (second only to Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do”), while BTS’s “Fake Love” achieved the fourth-highest 24-hour view count in all of YouTube history.

BLACKPINK is currently in the midst of their first Japanese arena tour, which kicked off in Osaka on July 24. They are also scheduled to hold a special concert at the Kyocera Dome in Japan later this year, making them the first foreign girl group ever to perform at the venue.

Meanwhile, BTS is preparing to make their highly-anticipated comeback with their new repackaged album “Love Yourself: Answer,” which is scheduled for an August 24 release.

Congratulations to BTS and BLACKPINK!
