Park Bo Young Reveals How Cha Tae Hyun Influenced Her Acting Career
In a recent interview with news outlet MyDaily, Park Bo Young talked about her former co-star Cha Tae Hyun and his memorable advice.
The two actors appeared together in the film “Scandal Makers” back in 2008. The movie revolved around a young single mother named Hwang Jung Nam (played by Park Bo Young), who claimed that Nam Hyun Soo (Cha Tae Hyun), a former teen idol who was now in his 30s and working as a radio DJ, was her father.
Park Bo Young shared, “Because I met [Cha] Tae Hyun early on [in my career], I was able to mature as an actor. Our movie ‘Scandal Makers’ wasn’t a big hit at the box office. But back then, Tae Hyun advised me that I should act without thinking about the existence of such numbers. Thanks to his [advice], I’ve been able to remain steady and keep my balance without worrying about the results.”
She added, “I also realized at the time that a good production doesn’t come to fruition through one person’s performance. It’s the result of everybody’s efforts.”
Park Bo Young continued, “All I can do is do my best and work hard on acting. Once the film is released, I think it’s out of my hands. Nobody knows whether [the movie] will do well or not. That’s why I pour even more passion into portraying my character on set. I try to focus on whether or not I’m negatively impacting [the production].”
The actress went on, “So I’ve been thinking a lot lately that I shouldn’t be greedy. Even if I’m offered a role, I’ll give it up if there’s an actor who fits it much better than I do. I’ve actually seen [those productions] go on to do well, but I have no regrets. There’s no guarantee that [the production] would have done well if I had been greedy and taken the role.”
Park Bo Young’s new movie “On Your Wedding Day” was released on August 22. The film tells the story of Seung Hee (Park Bo Young), who believes in falling in love at first sight, and Woo Yeon (Kim Young Kwang), who believes that Seung Hee is his only love.
