7 Idols Who Are Also Known For Their Excellence In Musicals
We all know that becoming an idol is hard. We’ve seen the tears of trainees in survival shows. They endure many years without any definite chance of debuting, and being able to debut doesn’t necessarily even guarantee success. Most have to work years to get noticed or rule the charts. Despite all this, there are some idols whose talents are recognized and wanted beyond the boundaries of the K-pop industry. They break the prejudices that surround idols by singing, dancing, and acting on stage all at once!
Here are just seven of many talented idols who also slay the musical stage.
1. EXO’s Suho
Suho is the renowned leader of EXO. He is one of the vocalists of the gorup, and his acting has been acknowledged through his roles in movies such as “Glory Day” and “Student A” and dramas like “Rich Man, Poor Woman.”
He was first cast in a musical for the role of Crown Prince Rudolf in “The Last Kiss.” The role suited him so well that EMK Musical company chose Suho to be their next musical’s lead again! Suho is currently acting as Gwynplaine in the musical “The Man Who Laughs.” Although “The Man Who Laughs” is only his second musical, the audience is saying that he is the next generation’s new musical star!

2. VIXX’s Leo
Leo, with his distinctive voice and tall physique, is a main vocalist of VIXX and is also known as a solo artist. He recently dropped his solo album “CANVAS” and showcased his talent and potential through many of the album’s songs which he wrote or composed.
VIXX is famous for having creative concepts and costumes every time they make a comeback. Since Leo is used to performing with many different concepts and stories, he has the ability to adapt perfectly to different musical roles.
Leo has performed in a variety of musicals like “Monte Cristo,” “Mata Hari,” and “The Last Kiss.” He is set to play the role of Der Tod (Death) in the musical “Elisabeth,” which will run from November 17 to February 10. The audience has high expectations for Leo’s portrayal of Death, the fatally charming character.

3. Park Hyung Sik
Park Hyung Sik first gained popularity through MBC’s “Real Men” for his “baby private” character. However, he did not stop there. He started taking on small roles in dramas like “Heirs” and was able to reach success with his funny yet romantic role in “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.”
In terms of musicals, Park Hyung Sik has appeared in “Monte Cristo,” “Three Musketeers,” “Temptation of the Wolves,” and “Bonnie & Clyde.” At the moment, he’s been cast in the same role as VIXX’s Leo in the musical “Elisabeth,” which is his return to the musical stage for the first time in two years. Fans are happy that he is making a comeback as a musical actor, especially since the character Der Tod is popular and famous among Korean musical lovers.

4. f(x)’s Luna
Luna is a jewel of f(x), and you cannot miss out on her voice or her dancing skills during their performances. She is a talented singer who won on “The King of Mask Singer” and is also a skillful dancer. She performs as a solo artist, is a beauty icon, and is also a content creator on YouTube,with her own channel “Luna’s Alphabet”! She is the true definition of a multi-talented artist.
There is another thing that Luna is good at: being a musical actress. She appeared in many musicals like “Legally Blonde,” “In the Heights,” “Rebecca,” “The Last Kiss,” and “Gone With the Wind,” usually playing the leading female role

5. Super Junior’s Kyuhyun

He appeared in musicals like “Boys Over Flowers,” “Napoleon,” “Edgar Allan Poe,” and “Dogfight.” At the moment, he is set to play two characters, the twins Louis and Phillip, in the musical “Iron Mask” on September 13.

7. Kim Junsu
Junsu is an artist that has already performed in many musicals and has won many awards. His talent on stage is indisputable, and when thinking of idol musical actors, he is definitely one the first to pop up in people’s minds.
He has played the lead role in many musicals like “Mozart,” “Tears of Heaven,” “December,” “Elisabeth,” “Dracula,” “Death Note,” and “Dorian Gray.” He set an example for these famous musicals and their respective iconic characters. He is currently serving in the military, so musical lovers as well as the public are anxious for his return. On the bright side, he is in talks for the role of Der Tod (Death) in “Elisabeth” following his discharge. Park Hyung Sik and Leo are confirmed to play the same role in this year’s production.
