Joo Ji Hoon Confirmed To Star In First Drama In 3 Years
Joo Ji Hoon will be starring in his first drama in three years.
MBC’s first Monday-Tuesday series of 2019 is set to be “The Item,” which will be a fantasy blockbuster that tells the story of two people uncovering the secrets of everyday items with supernatural powers. The drama will be adapted from a popular webtoon of the same name on Kakao Page.
“The Item” will be written by Jung Yi Do, who was praised for his work on OCN’s “Save Me.” The project will be directed by producing director (PD) Kim Sung Wook, who co-led drama “Goodbye Mr. Black” and the one-act play “House, Mate.”
Joo Ji Hoon will be taking on the role of male lead Kang Gon, the character he was previously reported to be in talks for. Kang Gon is a prosecutor and is a just, passionate, soft but strong character. He puts everything on the line to save his niece Da In, who he values more than his own life, and he throws himself into the mystery of supernatural items.
The actor has been focusing mostly on expanding his film career in recent years. In 2018, he was a part of two hit films “Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days” and “The Spy Gone North.” He also has another film set to be released in October, where he will play the role of Kang Tae Oh, a murderer who confesses to additional murders while in jail.
“The Item” will be Joo Ji Hoon’s first drama in three years since 2015’s “Mask,” and it is set to air in January 2019.
