IU And Fans Donate To Children's Foundation For 10-Year Anniversary
IU and her fans UAENA have commemorated the singer’s 10th anniversary in a meaningful way.
On September 18, it was reported that IU and UAENA donated 100 million won (approximately $89,000) to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, a global non-profit organization supporting children’s welfare. A source from the foundation stated, “IU and UAENA donated 100 million won towards scholarships for children being raised by their grandparents as well as youths from low-income families.”
IU also uploaded a post on her personal Instagram, of the certificate received from the donation. She wrote in the caption, “Third present,” and used the hashtag “IUAENA.”
IU first donated 100 million won to the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation in 2015, and has continued to donate to the foundation since. Having donated twice earlier this year to the foundation, the singer has donated a total of 220 million won (approximately $196,000). IU also donated 50 million won (approximately $44,000) to the Deaf Senior Citizens’ Welfare Center last March. Prior to her donations, fan communities have donated money and blood to various foundations.
IU made her debut in September 18, 2008, and is celebrating her 10-year debut anniversary this year. From October to December, she will be visiting seven cities in Korea and Asia for her concert tour.
