Seo Kang Joon Shares Thoughts On Transforming And Wearing Braces For New Role
Seo Kang Joon spoke about transforming into his character for JTBC’s “The Third Charm” (working title).
On September 27, a press conference was held for the upcoming drama.
Seo Kang Joon, whose handsome looks were showcased in his previous works, will undergo a change for his newest character On Joon Young.
The actor began, “I didn’t choose to appear [in this drama] for a specific reason, but chose intuitively. After slowly thinking about it, the character had a different charm than pre-existing characters. He doesn’t have to look cool. It looked really fun.”
He added, “After hearing that producing director Pyo Min Soo would be directing it, I thought that I had to do it.” Pyo Min Soo has previously directed popular dramas such as “Full House,” “Worlds Within,” and “The Producers.”
About his transformation, Seo Kang Joon explained, “After watching the teasers, [people are] saying that I’m acting out ugliness. Personally, I don’t think that. I didn’t give up handsomeness. Instead of ugliness, I accepted it as the character Joon Young. His awkward appearance as a 20-year-old looked innocent and lovable.”
He continued, “I had to wear braces, but they didn’t fit well. So, I put on fake teeth on top of my real teeth and wore brackets, which made my mouth stick out.”
“The Third Charm” is a romance fantasy drama about the 12-year love story between On Joon Young and Lee Young Jae (played by Esom), who first meet when they’re 20 years old. The drama is co-written by Park Hee Kwon of the film “Flu” and Park Eun Young of the film “My Dear Enemy.”
“The Third Charm” will premiere on September 28 at 11 p.m. KST. In the meantime, check out the teaser here!
