Ji Sung Talks Realistically About The Hardships And Joys Of Childcare
Actor Ji Sung has recently been giving a series of interviews to commemorate the end of his drama “Familiar Wife” and to promote his upcoming movie “Feng Shui.”
In one interview, he talked about his wife, Lee Bo Young, and their daughter Ji Yoo. He said, “When I’m filming a drama, I’m aware that my family is waiting for me to come home. I think that the fastest way of getting over the end of an acting job is child care. I don’t have time to think between taking care of housework and taking care of my daughter, so I naturally slip out of my role and back into myself.”
He added, “Through my daughter, I experience how happy life can be. I match my expectations to my hers. I’m happy just watching Disney cartoons with Ji Yoo.”
However, he was realistic about the difficulties of childcare, commenting that taking care of Ji Woo while preparing for ‘Feng Shui’ made him realize how tough it was for mothers. “It’s not easy to multitask,” he said. “I have to prepare for this job, but Ji Yoo wants to play. I have to wash her, put her to bed, and somehow the entire day slips away. Recently I’ve been going to bed with her at 8 p.m. and waking up at 3 a.m.”
He continued, “Even between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m., you can get a lot done. It’s the only time I have for myself. But changing your thoughts really changes your life. I recently heard Michelle Obama say to mothers that you shouldn’t just think ‘it’s hard’ all the time, but change the way you think. I felt like she was giving me affirmation and I felt proud. Moments like that make childcare fun.”
Ji Sung was also full of affection for his wife, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child. He shared how she made him into a better person and said, “She’s someone who means more to me than love.”
