"I Live Alone" PD Apologizes For This Week's Episode Cancellation Without Advance Notice
Producing director Hwang Ji Young of “I Live Alone” apologized for the cancellation of this week’s episode after fans criticized the show for not giving advance notice.
On October 20, producing director Hwang Ji Young stated, “Due to the delay in the baseball game, ‘Newsdesk,’ which airs daily, and the sports news was delayed as well. The cancellation [of ‘I Live Alone’] was unavoidable. Due to the outcome of the baseball game as well as other unpredictable factors, we were unable to announce the episode’s cancellation until later. We are sorry towards viewers who waited but hope that they understand that it was an unavoidable decision due to the delay in the baseball game. We would be grateful if viewers looked forward to next week.”
Previously, MBC’s programming showed that on October 19, “Newsdesk” would be airing at 10:25 p.m. KST with “I Live Alone” airing afterwards at 11:15 p.m. KST. However, the 2018 KBO semi playoffs, which was broadcast live at 6:15 p.m. KST, was delayed. This pushed “Newsdesk” to begin at 10:40 p.m. KST, and “I Live Alone” was ultimately canceled with “Talk Nomad” airing in its slot.
News of the episode’s cancellation aired briefly as a part of the captions during the baseball game. It appears that even Kim Choong Jae, whose appearance on the canceled episode had been confirmed in previews, was not aware that the episode was canceled as he posted on his personal Instagram encouraging viewers to watch the episode.
Viewers were furious and criticized the show for not properly notifying about the show’s cancellation. Many shared that they had stayed up late, watched through “Newsdesk,” and had been flustered when “I Live Alone” did not air.
“I Live Alone” airs every Friday at 11:10 p.m. KST.
