Update: Wanna One Members Discuss Dreams In 2018 MAMA's #LikeMAMA Campaign Video

Updated November 29 KST:

The remaining members of Wanna One have spoken for the #LikeMAMA campaign by the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

In the first of the final two videos for Wanna One released on November 29, Kim Jae Hwan, Park Woo Jin, and Park Ji Hoon talked about their dreams.

Kim Jae Hwan said, “While training, I had dreamed of a big stage. I’m no one without music.” Park Woo Jin was a huge fan of BIGBANG and the freedom they have in their performances, and wanted to be like them. “I would pretend I was there and dance and sing their songs.”

Park Ji Hoon said, “I wanted to be someone on TV who made the people who were watching happy and someone who people could be sad with. I wanted to be someone who shares those emotions with people. I thought a lot about how I could get one step closer to debuting, and I just moved forward with a determination to work hard.”

Park Ji Hoon said he never thought the moment would come when he would really debut, and he felt like it was a dream. Park Woo Jin, likewise, said it was beyond his expectations. “The debut that I had always dreamed of, I had no idea I would be seeing 20,000 light sticks at Gocheok Sky Dome. I’ll never forget it.”

In the future, Park Woo Jin said he wants to become an artist that everyone acknowledges, while Park Ji Hoon said, “I want to show a lot of different sides to myself. Me dancing and singing, me as a person.”

Kim Jae Hwan said, “I want to become a singer that brings comfort to listeners. I want to create music that brings happiness for both me and the people around me.”

In the final #LikeMAMA video for Wanna One, Lee Dae Hwi, Bae Jin Young, and Lai Guan Lin shared their stories.

Lee Dae Hwi said, “I think all 11 members of Wanna One will feel they also did the same, but for me, I never worked as hard as I did during ‘Produce 101.’ Even as a trainee, I would tell myself, ‘This is good enough.’ I think I was cocky. But then I joined ‘Produce 101,’ and there were 100 people that were better than me. Seeing that, I really pushed myself.”

Bae Jin Young said it was pure effort. “I said to myself, let’s practice more when everyone else is resting. I thought the result would be proportional to how much effort I put in.”

He said he still can’t forget the moment of Wanna One’s debut. Bae Jin Young and Lee Dae Hwi both described the feeling they had when they first looked out to the crowd after coming up to the stage on the lift, seeing thousands and thousands of light sticks.

Lai Guan Lin said, “I always strived to be better than I was the year before. I worked hard, always challenging myself.”

For Lee Dae Hwi, there is nothing else he could have possibly done, he said. “The stage is the place where I can show my true self, and that’s why I put everything on the line for this.”

Bae Jin Young said, “Being on stage is a comfort to me, and it’s the moment that makes my heart beat, makes me excited, and makes me want to do well.”

After talking about their dreams of debuting and how excited they felt after achieving their dreams, the two Wanna One members spoke about being role models for others.

Kang Daniel shyly remarked, “Rather than being a role model, I hope others can look at me and think, ‘That person was able to do it after working hard, so I can do it too,’ and gain confidence. Ong Seong Woo added, “I hope I can become someone else’s dream.”

Wanna One members were the next artists to be featured in the “#LikeMAMA” campaign by 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

On November 28, Mnet released a video starring Wanna One’s Yoon Ji Sung, Ha Sung Woon, and Hwang Min Hyun speaking about dreams.

Hwang Min Hyun began, “By chance, I watched TVXQ’s comeback stage. They were handsome, good at dancing, and they looked really cool.”

Yoon Ji Sung said, “A poem that I had written in elementary school was revealed. At the bottom, it said ‘job: celebrity,” and I thought it was really cool that I fulfilled my dream. I want to applaud myself.”

Ha Sung Woon stated, “I went to audition and was eliminated. It motivated me. I suddenly began to wonder why I was eliminated and worked hard to improve. I couldn’t give up.”

The Wanna One members then discussed why they appeared on “Produce 101.” “At first, my goal was passing auditions and becoming a trainee,” explained Ha Sung Woon. “When I became a trainee, I thought that everything I had dreamed of would come true if I debuted, and I thought that everything would work out. But that wasn’t the case.”

Hwang Min Hyun added, “I think [I went on ‘Produce 101’ because] I hoped more people would listen to me sing and more people would watch the stage I had worked hard to prepare for.”

Yoon Ji Sung revealed, “I wanted to fulfill my dream of becoming a singer, so I think I could take on the challenge.”

BTS, PSY, and TWICE have also appeared in the “#LikeMAMA” campaign. Check out more of Wanna One’s interview below:

2018 MAMA will take place in Korea on December 10, in Japan on December 12, and in Hong Kong on December 14.
