"2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships" Announces MCs, New Event, And Broadcast Plans

MBC’s “2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships – New Year Special” has revealed some exciting new details about its upcoming Lunar New Year broadcast!

On December 7, MBC announced that Jun Hyun Moo, Super Junior’s Leeteuk, and TWICE would be serving as the main MCs for the upcoming “2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships” airing over the Lunar New Year holiday.

Girl’s Day’s Yura, Super Junior’s Shindong, and comedienne Kim Shin Young will serve as the MCs for the bowling event, which will be held separately from the other events at a bowling alley in Seoul. While filming for the other sporting events will begin on January 7, as previously reported, filming for the bowling event will take place on January 14.

MBC has also revealed that it will be adding a brand-new event this year. In order to showcase idols’ soccer skills while minimizing the risk of physical injury, the “2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships” will feature a new penalty shootout event.

The “2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships” will air over the Korean Lunar New Year holiday, which runs from February 4 to February 6, 2019. Filming for the broadcast will begin at the Samsan World Gymnasium in Incheon on January 7.
