The 2018 Grimae Awards Ceremony took place on December 7 at 6:30 p.m. KST at KBS Art Hall. Along with the awards ceremony, the launch ceremony of the Korean Broadcasting Society, created from the merging of the Korean Directors of Photography Society (KDPS) and the Korea Broadcasting Camera Directors Association, took place.
The Grimae Awards was created in 1993 by KDPS. The award is given to film directors who have pursued excellent image quality and experimental images in documentaries, dramas, and projects produced by each broadcasting company over the past year.
The acting section selects the actor with the best performance and image among the actors that have been active in the past year through votes from the film directors. Jang Hyuk from MBC’s “Bad Papa” and Kim Sun Ah from SBS’s “Should We Kiss First?” were awarded the top acting award. Jung Chaeyeon from “to. Jenny” received the rookie acting award.
The best drama category went to Kim Hwa Young and Park Chang Soo from MBC’s “Bad Papa” and the best documentary category went to Jung Ki Hyun from “SBS Special-THE Squirrel” while the best show and broadcast category went to Lee Hyung Seok and six others of SBS’s “UHD Special of Inkigayo.”
Producer Cho Soo Won of SBS’s “30 But 17” received the best director award, while the late director Moon Seung Ho of KBS received the lifetime achievement award.
Congratulations to everyone!
